The Desk Job Caught Up To Me
Well, I'm also a business owner. My husband and I run a Kung Fu School called Sheng Chi Kung Fu, it is our passion. Now when I got into this I thought "great, I'll work out all the time". However I found that even in this line of work, a lot of time was spent behind the desk. I sometimes worked all day at the desk and never got a chance to hit the mat. My
neck and back started to ache. Without the exercise my body was
used to I not only was packing on some extra weight but I was developing
some aches and pains from sitting at the desk for so many hours.
My neck became stiff and my back ached. I developed sciatica which
was incredibly painful. I felt terrible.
Not only did I start to feel it in my health but my productivity dwindled. I seemed to be able to get less and less done in a day. My work piled up and I got further and further behind. So what did I do? Worked more of course.
The work I needed to get done just loomed over me and I couldn't bring myself to break away and exercise. Of course the problem just got worse. As my physical fitness declined so did my productivity. As my productivity declined I had to work more hours. Working more hours without taking time out for myself made me less and less physically fit. It was a terrible vicious cycle.
