Break Pal | Fitness at Your Desk

Another reason why Breakpal is so good for you.

Poison Oak - Isn't it Pretty?Poison Oak - Isn't it Pretty? As if you needed another reason to workout with me, Breakpal is germ free! If I'm sick, you'e safe!

I only bring this up because I have been suffering with poison oak this last week, as fate would have it I'm terribly allergic to it and live right in the thick of it. This week the only exercises I could do were Tai Chi breathing exercises, to visualize what health was like.

I'm back on my training regimen today and it feels great! Even missing a few days of working out changes my mood. Not to mention the side effects of medication. If you live above 5,000 feet or in a concrete jungle you may never know the pain of the poison oak. But that's O.K., I've experienced enough pain for all of us.

If you should ever be struck down by it I'd like to share my experience with you.

#1. We all touch our face far more than we think we do.
#2. We can be all "looks don't matter" until our face swells up. Then trust me vanity kicks in, hence the doctors visit.
#3. I'm a fine print reader, the cream the doctor prescribed says a side effect is a rash on the face...hmmm, that's why I'm here!
#4. I'm all for the homeopathic approach but a little more disclosure would be nice.
Pay close attention this information it could save your life:

When applying fresh Aloe Vera leaf to poison oak it feels cool and soft AT FIRST, just when you think "This stuff actually works" comes the most intense burning pain you will ever have felt! Did I say ever, because I try to mean what I say and I mean EVER! If and only if you survive that THEN it has healing qualities...

So stop touching your face so much, stay inside and use Breakpal.

Seriously, be well, keep working out, I'll check in soon.

Kudos to Michele with 99 points and cja with 56! We'll have more exercises up in a week or so to give you more choices.

My company doesn't allow

My company doesn't allow downloads on our work computers, so I have to try to remember to do this on my own. Not so easy, but I think I'll just put on calendar reminders and then try to remember what I saw you do on the website. Wish me luck, I'll be starting this on Monday (2/16).

Jane

download work- around

Hi Jane,
Can you access the web site from work? if so log in and pick your workout. You'll need to set a egg timer or reminder system to remind you to workout every 30 minutes. This way you don't actually download anything.
Good luck and I'll be watching your progress.

Poison Oak

Don't know if you know this, but the sap can be active for up to a year. If you were wearing outer clothing/jacket when you got it or gloves, they need to be washed. If you were doing yard work you need to carefully clean your tools-or get your husband to do it so you make sure you don't come in contact again.

A year?

Hi Michelle,
That is powerful stuff, someone told me the government used or uses it in germ warfare, now I know why.
Thanks for the tip, I forced my husband to search the river for a poison oak free area to run the dogs. We'll see how it works out.
Liz

Oh great

Ah I C another excuse why I have to do it :-)

No I didn't know it could be active for a year.

the infection was coming from the dog's. They were getting into it when I take take jogging at the river in the morning. Then, of course, Liz hugs them and voila, big itchy rash.

So now I take the dogs to a different place. It's about 20 minutes extra driving but well worth it.

My kids help Liz

I work at home and my children love to see Liz pop up on the screen. My 7 year old loves the kitty. If my 3 year old is near the computer when I am not and Liz pops up he yells "It's time to work out! Come on Mommy!"
Thanks for helping me not be so sedentary when I am sitting around pecking at the computer.

That's funny stuff

I just created an account for my cat Xena, the black & white cat, she hangs out in my office all day, actually she sits between my forearms with her head resting in the elbow joint so my already bad typing is even more hindered. We'll see if I can get her to trim down.
Thanks for being an inspiration by keeping your points high.
Liz
