Gratitude
In an effort to live my life with an “attitude of gratitude” I keep my Peak Potentials notebook on my desk, in it there is an exercise that asks you to list 10 things/people you are grateful for and why.
I keep it on my desk in an effort to do this as my first task. I do have days where I feel work can’t wait, even 5 minutes, and I don’t do this exercise. Being honest my work is important and adds value to other people’s lives but it isn’t like I’ve got someone waiting on the operating table.
Yesterday was one of those days where I was off to work first. Then my Gratitude lesson walked in the front door, a homeless 23 year old. On the weekend’s men come to the door on a regular basis now looking for work. Normally we don’t really have anything that needs to be done that we can pay them for, they are gracious and move on to the next building.
Yesterday we did have work and some money to pay him for it. He hadn’t eaten and we had an hour delay before we could start our job. We gave him some money for breakfast and asked him to come back in an hour. He came back and worked with Phil for the afternoon. He was obviously tired, he sleeps on a porch somewhere so he wasn’t exactly well rested, but he worked hard and when he would start to complain he would stop himself. This young man was not looking for a hand out; he was tired of being hungry and was happy to work for food money. No matter where he slept last night I can only hope it was better with a full belly.
I am thankful for this young man that God sent to my door to remind me to always be grateful and no matter where I am to always be working to move forward.
Enjoy this beautiful day.

Poignant post!
You have a humble and generous heart , Liz. Actually there are times also that I found myself complaining about something in which I didn't realize how I am blessed compared to others. We often forgot to gratify those matters or events in our life that gives meaning and worth to our existence. I'm happy meeting those people who in spite of being strangers, after all, made me realized about thankfulness and appreciation of what I am and of what I have. Thanks for sharing this Liz. Hope you'll stay as what I sense about what you are.
Just want to share:
