I'm afraid I'll look funny doing the exercises. My co-workers will laugh.
You're kidding right?
Oh no, I can see that you're not. Well this is an interesting point I ponder all the time. Some people would rather suffer the problems of ill health than be seen exercising in public. Well that is a choice. It's definitely something weird about our culture, what we will and will not accept. Well if enough people do Break pal that will change.
I'm off on a tangent here but it's something that really get's me. My Grand Master used to talk about the culture in China when he was there in the late 40's. He said that when people had a few moments where they had to wait for something (such as waiting for a bus) they would use that time to practice T'ai Chi or something similar. In essence Break Pal was built into their culture. In numerous times throughout the day when minutes would normally be wasted they practiced something. Pretty smart if you ask me. I guess that's where I came up with the idea of Break pal.
However I know it can be tough. We get emails all the time from people that say their office workers give them strange looks. Luckily those people are smart enough not to care. we've even received emails saying that we're crazy expecting people to do this where others can see them. Well maybe we are, and maybe we aren't.
So to help with this problem we've included some pretty simple exercises that won't raise attention. The chair stretch section is pretty boring. Start there and maybe you'll one day work up to Office Kung Fu Aerobics or something. No matter which ones you do we commend you for doing something good for yourself.
And if you think we're crazy that's OK too. Break Pal is just not for you RIGHT NOW.
And if it is for you then you'll laugh at all the out of shape people who are not taking care of their health yet laughing at someone doing something good for themself? Something that will not only boost health but productivity also? They really should think twice about that one. You'll definetely laugh last.
Plus with all your new productivity you'll probably end up in a private corner office with a view where they can't see you anyway :-)
